Boys basketball beats the Rebels

On Wednesday, Poly’s basketball teams hosted Prep League rivals Flintridge Prep. It was stiff competition on all levels. However, it was the Panthers who came out on top. The turnout was great, and the stands were filled on both sides. School spirit was evident as excitement filled the gym. Both teams played a close game, finishing the first half 26-25. The Panthers went into the fourth with the lead. The Rebels cut down the lead by one with a couple minutes left in the game. The Panthers dug deep and pulled away, leading by six with a minute left in the game. After a back-and-forth game, the Panthers defeated the Rebels 64-54. The evening had a playoff feel, and the game ended in a playoff-like fashion with the students rushing onto the gym floor to celebrate with the team after the final buzzer went off. The Panthers are back in the gym preparing to travel to Flintridge next Friday for a rematch.
