Dr. Bruce Beutler '75 named Poly’s Distinguished Alumnus

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Bruce Beutler '75 has been named Polytechnic School’s Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. As director of the Center for the Genetics of Host Defense at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Beutler has dedicated his career to science and medicine — pioneering molecular and genetic studies of inflammation and innate immunity. In 2011, Dr. Beutler received the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for his discoveries concerning activation of innate immunity. To celebrate, Head of School John Bracker and the Alumni Association will invite Dr. Beutler back to campus for a visiting day this fall and host a dinner in his honor.
