College Counselors Travel to Admission Conference

College Counselors Mark Rasic and Sam Schreiber traveled to Spokane, Washington to attend the SuperACAC (Association for College Admission Counseling) conference — a combination of members from Western, Pacific Northwest, and Rocky Mountain ACAC chapters. Sam led a Special Interest Group discussion for new and emerging leaders and was a conference volunteer. Mark presented in a session about Student Mental Wellbeing and the Admissions Journey. Downtown Spokane had plenty of cute coffee shops, and they were able to walk across the falls and enjoy meals that overlooked them.

After the conference, they rented a car with some colleagues from other schools and drove three hours to Walla Walla, Washington to see Whitman College. Whitman impressed Sam on every level. There are lots of bridges over brooks throughout campus, with students who work one on one with professors in their labs, on leadership initiatives, and in the wider Walla Walla community. Every building was beautiful and as they ate lunch in the dining hall students were setting up volleyball nets to enjoy the sun. It also had the largest climbing center Sam had ever seen at a college campus, let alone a small one. They flew out of Walla Walla, a tiny airport, and were both quite taken by the campus.
