Poly Athletics Welcomes Back Alumni

Winter break brings fun and laughter. It also brings back alumni of Poly Athletics. Two winter teams invited back some alumni to play in a friendly game against Poly’s current student-athletes. The first was girls basketball. The team welcomed back five alums spanning nearly 20 years. They include Assistant Coach Blythe (Haaga) Parker ’01, Adele (Bergstrom) Vuong ’01, Keara Caragher ’20, Shannon Dilbeck ’20, and Kylie Kishi ’20.

Poly’s girls soccer program also welcomed back 11 alumni to campus to play the current players on the team. The alumni roster included Oge Ogbogu ’20, Cayla McFarlane ’20, Sophie Schleifer ’18, Olivia Schleifer ’21, Talulla Sheridan ’21, Ella Wu-Ancipink ’22, Nellie Wolcott Breen ’17, and Luisa Wolcott Breen ’20. In addition, five alums had the unique opportunity to play against their younger siblings who are current members of the team. They included sisters Nellie ’17 and Luisa Wolcott Breen ’20 up against younger sister Willow ’24, Ella McDonald ’22 against Maggie ’26, Annika Nelson ’22 against Guiliana ’25, and Jackie Sabbag ’22 against sisters Michaela ’23 and Catie ’25. It was a competitive, back-and-forth game ending with lots of hugs and laughter.

Although the school is on break, many teams are still practicing and competing as we get closer to the holidays. Poly’s boys teams have games lined up this week with the boys basketball team participating in the Jim Bashore Holiday Cage Classic up in Carpinteria while Poly’s soccer team has two games scheduled this week at Castaic High School on Tuesday, Dec. 20. They then host Temple City on Caltech’s North Field on Thursday, Dec. 22. Check the Athletic Calendar for more details.

Go Panthers! Happy Holidays from Poly Athletics!
