Poly Students Take the Climate Fight to City Hall

On October 24, Poly students, faculty, and staff took steps to address climate change on the steps of Pasadena City Hall. The group rallied for clean, green energy while at the same time the school kicked off its own project to assess the potential for powering the campus with solar energy.

 

With Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) still sourcing more than 50% of its power from burning fossil fuels, 20 Poly students joined together with other Pasadena students and residents who are concerned about climate change, rallying for the city to commit to 100% carbon-free energy by 2030. Poly student Audrey M. ’27 spoke passionately at the rally about slowing climate change through city government commitments to carbon-free energy to the cheers of her peers.

 

Powering the school with renewable energy is key to reducing Poly's carbon footprint. Poly will partner with sustainability consultant, Verdical Group, on the solar study. Stay tuned for more news about this exciting project.
