Panthers Win Big Versus the Eagles

On Tuesday, October 4, the Panthers hosted the Eagles from Brentwood School in Poly’s Aquatic Center. Going into this match, the Panthers’ record was at an even .500, going 6-6 overall and 1-1 in league. Brentwood is historically a formidable opponent, and the match tends to be a highly anticipated game of the season. This was no different. Poly entered the game as a slight underdog to the Eagles. That did not discourage the Panthers at all. They outworked the Eagles and outscored them 9-6 improving their league record to 2-1.

Coach Sean Grab shared, “I thought it was our first complete performance of the season versus Brentwood. We did a great job defensively, and I was proud of the boys. I’m hoping that for this tournament, we will be ready to learn and continue growing as a group. This is a great opportunity for us to compete against more high-level teams and prepare ourselves for the remainder of league and postseason play.”

The team hopes to take this momentum into the third annual Varsity Boys Water Polo Classic hosted by Claremont High School. This 46-team tournament will be played across eight different school sites. Poly is scheduled to play the first round at Troy High School on Friday, October 7. There they will face the host school Troy High School with the game time scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Depending on the outcome of the game, the Panthers will face either Santana High School or Santiago High School in their second match of the day. Friday’s results dictate who, where, and when they play on Saturday, October 8.

Good luck to Poly’s Boys Varsity Water Polo team!
