PolyToday: Clean Energy from Microbes

Juniors in Dr. Selvakumar's PolyEnriched Biological Research class started their first research project yesterday. To the outside observer, students looked to be sifting through fragrant mud for a good many minutes. In reality, that was only a small part of the process. Students were prepping mud to build MudWatts, devices that use bacteria to convert organic matter found in mud into electricity. Students will have the opportunity to track the data from their devices for the duration of the school year.
