Dance Team Earns Superior Marks

Last week, the Poly Dance Team returned from camp decorated with ribbons and honors that reflected their hard work and dedication. This year, the team traveled to Garden Grove to participate in the United Spirit Association cheer camp. The camp is four days of intensive work learning new skills, techniques, and routines. Coach Marianne Davies said that this year’s 12 members “…laughed, cried, and really bonded as a team. In addition to the 8-10 hours of dance instruction every day, they gave up all their free time to further perfect our routines. We are tremendously proud of each and every one of them.” And they should be!

The team earned many accolades and received high praise and recognition. This included the Superior ribbon they earned on the fourth day by performing a dance and game action cheer specific to the scenario given to them. They also earned the Spirit Stick on the first day for their enthusiasm and positivity. In line with Poly tradition, the team also earned the Spirit Stick on the fourth day allowing them to take it back to school with them to add to their growing collection. Many of the Dance Team members earned individual awards recognizing them for their skills including the All-American title. Reese Y. ’23, Lily G. ’23, and Ashley K. ’25 received this prestigious honor and were invited to perform in Hawaii for the All-Star Team.

Congratulations to the team on another successful camp!
