Spring Break Game for Poly Baseball

While much of the campus was off enjoying the two-week Spring Break for what felt was the very first time, Poly Athletics came back early to get some work in. Many of the Spring teams were practicing throughout the second week. But Poly’s Varsity Baseball team was able to squeeze a game in before the campus came back to life.

On Saturday, April 2, Varsity Baseball hosted the Tigers from South Pasadena High School. The last time the Panthers took the field was March 18, the Friday leading into the break. They came off a two-game losing streak against Flintridge Prep. The break, however, served helpful for the squad. They came back and rebounded with an 8-5 victory over the Tigers. Elliot R. ’24 earned his first career win and senior Sam H. ’22 pitched two shutout innings and had two hits of his own. Henry M. ’24 added two more hits and a sacrifice fly to help earn the Panthers this win.

This week, the Panthers will take on the Kares from Rio Hondo Prep. The first time the Panthers faced Rio, they beat the Kares in a dominating fashion with a 12-2 victory. They hope to repeat their performance on Tuesday, April 5 at 3:45 p.m. on Poly’s home field and also on Thursday, April 7 at 3:45 p.m. on Rio Hondo’s baseball field.
