Poly Student Ambassador Blog: Getting Involved With Luciana P. ’25

By Luciana P. ’25

Getting into Poly was a special day for me. I distinctly remember my mom and the rest of my family crowded around the computer refreshing email continuously, anxiously anticipating acceptance letters.

At the time, I knew that going to Poly was a big deal and a new environment would be a huge transition for me. Once I arrived at Poly though, I couldn’t have been more surprised with the welcoming and friendly community environment. It’s a big reason why Poly holds such a large place in my heart after only a couple of months.

The different activities including clubs, affinity groups, global ambassadors, sports, performing arts, and more, helped me create my own family through each activity. My biggest advice to incoming or prospective students would be to find as many opportunities as possible to be a part of various communities at Poly.

Athletics is a big part of my life at Poly. One of Poly’s greatest features is the no-cut policy. It ensures everyone gets the chance to experience the Athletics program. At other schools, some kids will never get the chance to play, but at Poly everyone receives a nurturing and fun experience.

Poly values teams that are based on skill and attitude, so you get to play with players at your level whilst everyone is still included. As a new student participating in sports, I saw firsthand how Poly’s Athletic program helped me meet classmates and upperclassmen outside of a classroom setting, and bond with others who already have a shared interest with me. So far this year, sports have given me an extra thing to look forward to especially after days that are more challenging for me at school.
