Celine P. '26 Celebrates Another Archery Victory

This year, the California State Games Archery Competition was held at Chula Vista Easton Archery Center for Excellence on Sept. 19th. Though the games were postponed from June due to COVID-19, the participants were excited to compete.

Poly's own Celine P. '26 went undefeated and won the gold medal in the girls' cub class barebow competition (cub and barebow refer to the distance to the target and size of the target). She started archery in 4th grade and won second place in her first state archery games in 2018. At last year's state games, she won first place in the girls' barebow bowman class.

In late August, she joined the Pasadena Roving Archers after she enrolled in Polytechnic School and continued her Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) training. Celine said, "I am so lucky to find such an esteemed archery range close to school and many seasoned coaches to teach me new skills.”

Her coach, Jim MacQuarrie, shared, “Celine came to Pasadena with a pretty solid foundation, so we’ve just been working on minor form adjustments. She is an eager student and immediately applied everything I suggested. She is a pleasure to work with and I expect great things from her in the future."
