Lower and Middle School Virtual Book Fair

Sunday, October 18, 2020, through Friday, October 23, 2020

Join us at the "Starbooks" coffee shop, this year's Lower and Middle School Virtual Book Fair! This week-long celebration serves to connect our Poly Community, highlight diversity, equity, and inclusion, and further our love of reading.

Throughout the week, there will be several Zoom events for students and parents/guardians to participate in. There are virtual book fairs where you could visit favorite spots on the Poly North Campus, listen to read-alouds by familiar faces, and explore the "Starbooks" coffee shop. We look forward to “seeing” you there!

To get you excited about the event, Mr. Joey Bacon, Kindergarten Teacher, has created the first Virtual Book Fair theme song! Listen while you watch our Lower School students read a latte! Enjoy!

Occasionally, classic children books may have content and messages about race, religion, culture, gender equality and identity, and other topics that may be troubling or antiquated when viewed through a DEI lens today. This session provides parents and families with the tools to: talk about potentially difficult issues raised in books, teach children to identify and interrupt discriminatory messages when they encounter them, and help families grow closer by showing that family is a supportive and open space where children can deepen their understanding about the world around them.
