Clearer Skies Open Up Fall Training Sessions

After a week of bleak skies, the air cleared up enough to allow the Poly Athletics department to resume its fall training sessions. By the end of the week, over 200 students will have taken the opportunity to participate in these training sessions. The student-athletes are excited and enthusiastic about the opportunity to train in their selected sports and are grateful for the change of pace to their virtual academic days.

The Poly Athletics department continues to proactively enforces physical distancing while student enter and exit campus and also during the training sessions. The campus is staffed with extra personnel to monitor the entrances, exits, and all the spaces in between. Student-athletes are also required to wear their face masks, if the level of training exertion allows.

Weather conditions continue to be monitored, as well as the air quality due to the ongoing local fires. The first week of training sessions were cancelled due to the smoke and poor air quality, and the Athletics department is giving the participating teams the opportunity to extend training sessions one more week to fulfill the 5-week period. This pushes the end date back to Friday, October 23 should teams choose to do so.

Poly Athletics is committed to giving its student-athletes this opportunity to train. Please be aware that all teams scheduled to train on Mondays will still proceed as normal despite the upcoming school holiday, Francis Wass Day, on Monday, September 28.
