PolyToday: Learning life skills

Recently during Middle School FLEx periods, Poly sixth-graders are learning some life skills by rotating through a series of five lessons. In the nutrition rotation, the class is exploring food-related issues, including production, marketing, and the biological effects of eating certain food items. Today students made pizza in the ceramics studio and "fired" it in the Upper School kiln. In the gardening FLEx, students are learning about the particle size of soil, the airflow to plants' roots, the fundamental nutritional needs of plants, and the volume of soil. Sixth-graders planted seeds today. The Class of 2026 is also busy discussing the Constitution and exercising. Finally, they were exposed to some sewing fundamentals. While creating a doll, students learned two basic stitches and how to sew on a four-hole button. They should have some new skills to practice at home.
