Poly cross country concludes season; individual runner moves on

Last Saturday Poly’s cross country team traveled to the Riverside City Cross Country Course to compete in the CIF-SS cross country finals. The team sent seven boys and seven girls to represent Poly. The course was flat and the weather conditions were good. Despite a tough collision at the beginning of the race, the girls finished 10th overall. On the boys side, one of their top players experienced an injury and was unable to run. Poly’s boys finished 22nd overall in the Southern Section. Junior Alessia Checcone had an exceptional race, finishing 10th, punching her ticket to represent Poly as an individual in the California State cross country finals, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 30, at Woodward Park in Fresno.
