Junior M. Kwei qualifies for the next round

On Monday, junior Maddy Kwei competed in the CIF individual regionals at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai. Kwei finished the regular season second in the Prep League after last week’s Prep League finals. At the CIF individual regionals, Kwei was one of the 144 girls fighting for 36 spots to advance to the next round. After 18 rounds, she shot 77 with three birdies, putting her in a playoff with nine girls playing for eight spots. They played the 17th hole, where Kwei shot par. This qualified her to advance. She will play in the CIF individual finals next Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Western Hill Country Club in Chino Hills, where 72 girls will shoot to qualify for the 28 spots in the CIF state championships. No girl in Poly’s girls golf history has made it this far. We wish her luck in next week’s playoffs.
