PolyToday: Rollercoasters!

Seventh-grade science students were grouped into teams and asked to design and engineer physics rollercoasters. Required features included vertical loops, horizontal spirals, funnels, two-way merges, and ramps. A few groups went above and beyond requirements and included unique features such as pinball pads. Grading was based on meeting all requirements, featuring the coaster name and theme, as well as moving the marble through from beginning to end successfully. Data collected for their science lab included measuring the track and collecting time in order to complete data tables and calculate speed and acceleration.
