PolyToday: Poetry Open Mic

Today in the Upper School, a small but mighty group enjoyed an opportunity to read and listen to poetry at the Open Mic during community time. It is National Poetry Month, after all. Dylan H. '21 is so inspired that he has vowed to write a sonnet a day for the 30 days of April (so far, so good). Upper School students can enter the poetry contest, participate in the Haiku workshop on April 10, and read foreign language poems later in the month. There are also activities that make poetry accessible to all: magnetic poetry, blackout poetry, even Twitter poetry. Check out GooglePoetics.com as an example - it's when poems are created from autocomplete suggestions. Throughout the month in the library, students can write their poems on "leaves" to go on the "Poet-tree.”
