PolyToday: Writer Isabel Quintero visits Poly

Isabel Quintero, the Mexican-American author of "Gabi, a Girl in Pieces," recently visited Poly. She spoke about Latino culture and her career in writing. Quintero shared stories about how her high school experiences inspired her to become a writer. She also gave advice to students who are interested in the writing or publishing industry. "Gabi, a Girl in Pieces" was the winner of the 2015 William C. Morris Award, which honors a book written for young adults by a previously unpublished author. She has since published a graphic novel and a children's book titled "Ugly Cat & Pablo." Her latest book, "My Papi has a Motorcycle," will be published this spring by Penguin Random House.
