SALC hosts Dodgers' Andrew Friedman on Jan. 28

Poly's Student-Athlete Leadership Council (SALC) will host guest speaker and Poly parent Andrew Friedman, president of baseball operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers, on Monday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. in Garland Theater. Born in Houston, Texas, Friedman grew up playing baseball and attended Tulane University on a baseball scholarship. After graduating, he worked as an analyst at Bear Stearns and as an associate at MidMark Capital before joining the MLB with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Friedman will cover a variety of topics, including his unconventional path toward an MLB front office career, the rise of analytics in sports, and the value in multi-sport athletes, which aligns with Poly’s philosophy. Following the talk, there will be a Q&A session. The event is open to Poly students, parents, faculty and staff, and alumni, as well as the broader community. So that we can better manage the event, we ask that those interested in attending please make a reservation. Questions may be directed to Austin Lee.
