Poly basketball tournament in full swing

Both boys and girls Varsity basketball teams are hosting their annual basketball tournament. This eight-team tournament spans three days, concluding tomorrow, Dec. 8. Yesterday, the first round of the bracket play started as early as 3 p.m., going through the night. Poly’s girls team first faced Fillmore High School at 4:30 p.m., defeating the Lady Flashes 53-21. This advances the Panthers to the winner’s side of the bracket and on to the second round, when they will take on the Pandas from Immaculate Heart at 6 p.m. The boys Varsity team first faced Bellflower High School in their first round of the tournament. They dominated the Buccaneers 77-28, advancing them to the winner’s side of their bracket. This afternoon the Panthers tip off against the Titans from San Marino at 6 p.m. in the second round of bracket play. See the Athletic Calendar for details.
