PolyToday: Family Literacy Night this Sunday

Students in Mr. Martin's class spent some time reading this afternoon. Speaking of books, the Book Fair is almost here!

Please join us for Family Literacy Night (formerly Opening Night) this Sunday, Oct. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Founders Hall and the Middle School Courtyard (new location!). The Book Fair kicks off with this fun-filled family event. As the first opportunity this fall to gather as a Poly community, this not-to-be-missed night will include:
  • Food trucks (Border Grill, Made in Brooklyn Pizza, Pie N Burger, Kona Ice) (cash only for food purchases; food trucks will be located on Catalina Avenue, accessible from the Middle School Courtyard);
  • Book reviews from students/parents/teachers: Offer an onsite review of a book available for sale at the book fair;
  • GIA book club: Learn more about Poly's parent-led Global Initiatives Alliance (“GIA”) Book Club;
  • Student/parent book club: Learn more about a pilot of peer book clubs (composed of parents and children) to deepen the conversations we have about books;
  • Ask an expert: This is your chance to speak one-on-one with faculty about how to foster healthy reading habits in your family;
  • Parent book talk: Purchase Tina Payne Bryson’s latest book, “The Yes Brain,” and register for her book talk (date TBD);
