Poly’s cross country team goes across the country

As reported by head coach Rick Caragher

This summer, the cross country team decided to make a trip across the country to eastern Wyoming to the Pass Creek Ranch, just outside of Parkman, Wyo. The 2,700-mile roundtrip truly makes us cross country in every sense of the phrase. Eight female athletes and coaches made a nine-day journey to and from Wyoming. While there, we endured a massive hail storm, worked out with the local high school cross country team (Tongue River High School), ran beautiful trails, swam and played in a pond, hiked (including a trek to Buffalo Cave where we saw skeletal remains of livestock and an ancient bison), herded cattle into a pen, experienced a stirring trip to Heart Mountain (home of Japanese Internment Camp), and grew together as a team. As a result of our travels and distance training, our mantra became, "We believe women should be running the country."
