Poly's Latinos Unidos provides laptops for girls in Honduras

By Esteban Mendoza '18

This past year, Poly's Upper School group Latinos Unidos collaborated with Pastor Daniel Pacheco, who shared his story with Poly in January, and his organization, Casa de la Esperanza. Casa de la Esperanza, an organization founded by Pastor Pacheco, aims to curb violence and heal the streets of San Pedro Sula, the world's “most dangerous city," through community-building initiatives.

Through our efforts, we were able to provide three laptops to the young girls of San Pedro Sula. In preparation for a program linking the girls of San Pedro Sula with those at Poly in an effort to inspire young women to learn how to code, we hope these laptops will serve as a gateway from San Pedro Sula to the rest of the world and perhaps also serve as an alternative to crime.
