Members of the boys tennis team take first place

As the Varsity boys tennis team gears up to play in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs this afternoon, members of the team had to compete for first place on an individual level. The winners of these matches would be the Prep League representatives for the CIF-SS individual playoffs. Junior Carson Yu went head-to-head with Flintridge Prep’s number-one singles player on Monday. Yu ousted his opponent 6-1, 6-4. Yesterday Poly’s number-one doubles team of sophomores Renzo Soatto and Wally Corngold took on the first-ranked team from Chadwick School and beat them in straight sets as well, 6-3, 6-2. All three will not only represent Poly, but also as the number-one seeds of the Prep League in the CIF-SS individual playoffs to be played on Thursday, May 24.
