Alumni and friends return to campus for Alumni and Reunion Weekend

More than 500 alumni and guests returned to Poly last month to celebrate Alumni and Reunion Weekend. Festivities began with the Alumni Roundtable at Caltech’s Athenaeum, “Who Gives? – Changes and trends in philanthropy today,” featuring Jennifer Cheng ’78, Jennifer Fleming DeVoll ’77, and Lucianne Phillips ’71 and moderated by John Horn ’78. Friday began with Lower and Upper School classroom visits before the 101st Poly Pet and Hobby Show. Friday evening, the Class of ’68 was inducted into the 50-Year Club, which includes all alumni who graduated from Poly 50 or more years ago. Following dinner, guests were treated to a performance of the Upper School musical, "Anything Goes.”

On Saturday afternoon, more than 200 alumni, parents and children of alumni, and guests gathered on campus for the Alumni Family Picnic – Homegrown Eats. The event featured local favorites and special offerings from Poly's own alumni chefs/restaurateurs, including Alexandra Poer ’87 (Alexandra's Table), Andrea Uyeda ’91 (ediBOL), and André Vener ’91 (Dog Haus). In addition, there were arts and crafts, face painting, games, ice cream, and campus tours. Celebrations continued in the evening, as the 15- through 45-year reunion classes gathered on Arden Lawn for a reception and class photos before their separate class dinners. The Class of ’98 took home the Willis Stork Award for highest participation in the Poly Fund with 42 percent, and the Class of ’88 took home the Gosney Cup for highest dollar amount raised for the Poly Fund with $34,341.

It was great to see so many alumni, parents of alumni, and former faculty back on campus catching up and enjoying the time together. Thank you to all who attended! Please enjoy a slideshow and video of the weekend’s events. A special thanks to the 2018 reunion committees, whose incredible efforts throughout the year made the weekend a success!
