PolyConnect: Advice for college and career

Sponsored by the Alumni Association, the PolyConnect program connects members of the Poly community who share common interests and who can offer advice based on their college experience and careers. Young alumni and current students are especially encouraged to utilize PolyConnect for networking opportunities.

PolyConnect online

Join the NEW alumni network!

PolyConnect is Polytechnic School’s private, online professional community of alumni. The platform is currently open to all alumni and Poly junior and seniors who apply to participate and join after a screening. Our alumni work in hundreds of career fields, and have unique experiences and paths to success they are willing to share. PolyConnect supports alumni to communicate, learn, and give back through meaningful individual connections.
Alumni and students can utilize this platform in a number of different ways including:
  • Professional networking by making direct connections with alumni who will generously share their professional experience, knowledge, and insights; the platform automatically generates natural connections through an algorithm (via key questions) and flexible, search fields;
  • Discover alumni affinity groups based on professions, interests, or region;
  • Access educational resources, a discussion forum, and more!

PolyConnect lunches

PolyConnect lunches offer Upper School students the opportunity to learn firsthand about a particular profession over a casual lunch. Alumni discuss their personal career experience, as well as their field or industry in general. Speakers provide a brief history of their path since leaving Poly, along with a snapshot of a typical work day, and students are invited to ask questions. Lunches are held on campus several times throughout the school year; all Upper School students are invited to attend.

The program aims to introduce students to a wide variety of industries. Previous lunches have focused on specific career paths within the fields of medicine, entertainment, science, art and design, law, and business.

PolyConnect presenters during 2017-18 included:
  • John Coogan '07 and David Renteln '07 - entrepreneur career path
  • Anto Hindoyan '00 - cardiology
  • Chiemi Suzuki '96 - patent litigation
  • HIlary Thomas '94 - contemporary dance and business
