Thank you for your interest in PolyConnect internships and job shadow opportunities. All positions are open to alumni and current Poly high school students on a first-come, first-served basis. Each internship has its own application requirements, and final hiring decisions are made by the employer. Job shadow opportunities are scheduled by the job shadow host as his or her schedule permits. Please follow these steps to apply for an internship or job shadow opportunity:

Barre3 San Carlos, Calif. Company Website:www.barre3.com Position Title: Barre3 San Carlos Concierge Applicant Eligibility: Open to high school and college students Compensation: $15 per hour plus free classes and 30% off retail Company Description: Barre3 is a ballet barre based fitness studio in San Carlos, California. This internship is an opportunity to learn first hand how the business of fitness and how a startup franchise works. Internship Responsibilities: The intern will assist with the logistics around a startup fitness business. Duties include interacting with clients, front desk duties, software logistics, learning a little about our business model, marketing, social media, community outreach. Opportunity for growth depending on specific areas of interest.
BEGIN Los Angeles, CA Company website: www.howdoibegin.com Position Title: Social Media Intern Applicant Eligibility: Open to high school and college students Compensation: Unpaid Company Description:BEGIN is a boutique brand development and social media management consulting firm specializing in entertainment & media, small business, and startup clients. 2/3 employees are Poly alumni. Our internship program allows students to see first-hand what it takes to run a small consulting firm, manage brand social media, and develop brand and marketing strategies. We offer our interns a combination of training, hands-on projects, and tasks that will prepare them for future jobs, internships, and entrepreneurial endeavors. Our clients include top online influencers, independent musicians, independent filmmakers, small businesses, tech startups, and more.
Internship Requirements: Required skills: Strong writing skills; demonstrated interest in one of our fields: marketing, entertainment, entrepreneurship, small businesses, or startups; must be a self-starter excited to work in a start-up-like environment Preferred skills: Additional skills in any of the following areas: graphic design, photography, accounting, video editing, audio editing. Previous internship experience in one of our primary business areas.
David Tokofsky Consulting Eagle Rock, CA Position Title: Civic Engagement Intern Applicant Eligibility: Open to high school students Company Description: David Tokofsky is a consultant for the Associated Administrators of Los Angeles, the school administrators’ union, Learning Works, and an architectural firm that designs, among other things, school buildings. Internship Requirements: Strong writing and organizational skills; ability to meet and greet civic leaders with professionalism.
Good Solutions Group Pasadena, Calif. Company Website:www.goodsolutionsgroup.com Position Title: Marketing Intern Applicant Eligibility: Open to high school and college students Must have strong communication skills, organization skills, and be able to work independently. Must be able to create presentations, spreadsheets, documents. Compensation: $15 per hour Company Description: Good Solutions Group is a full service marketing company specializing in cause marketing and active lifestyle marketing, especially for emerging brands. Internship Responsibilities: Assist on client projects including ideation, research, activation, and reporting.
John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects Los Angeles, CA Company Website: www.jfak.net Position Title: Design Intern Applicant Eligibility: Open to high school or college students. Strong interest in architectural design a must. Start Date: Open Compensation: Based on experience Company Description: The work of John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects (JFAK) begins with the premise that architecture has the power to dramatically affect people’s lives. JFAK exploits this potential to create new types of social spaces that encourage creative interaction, sustain the environment, and catalyze positive change for their users and their surrounding communities. Internship Responsibilities: Duties for applicants with no architecture experience: Research; assistance with the preparation of presentation booklets and lectures; website development and upkeep; graphic design – creating diagrams, etc. for lectures and presentations; office organizational duties; simple model making and prototyping duties; Photoshop images; assistance with marketing and business development. Duties for applicants with architecture experience: all of the above, plusdesign, computer drafting, 3d modeling, rendering (depending on the skill level) Desired skills: Strong desire to learn about architecture and design. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator skills a plus. Word and Excel proficiency required. AutoCAD and/or Rhino a plus, not required for high school students.
