Thrive in a Globally-Networked Society

PolySummer Academy is the latest program from Polytechnic School, offering all high school students the ability to take credit-bearing courses from our partners at Global Online Academy (GOA).

With over 20 courses ranging from Computer Science to Fiction Writing, Race & Society to Number Theory, and Medical Problem Solving to Abnormal Psychology, students are almost certain to find a topic that will empower them to thrive in a globally-networked society. These courses offer students the opportunity to learn with peers whose backgrounds, experiences, and opinions differ from their own as students take courses from all over the world.

Each course gives students the flexibility to work at their own pace with regular feedback and meetings from their instructors. Students should expect a 10-12 hour weekly commitment for offerings that replace a semester and a 15-20 hour weekly commitment for offerings that replace a yearlong course.

Each student who completes a course will receive an official Polytechnic transcript, showing the course and credit earned. Please note these courses are available Summer 2021 only and are distinct from the semester-long courses Poly offers during the academic year. Current Poly students will have it added to their existing transcripts. GOA is accredited by both the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

GOA Summer Program faculty uses the Canvas Learning Management system, providing students with real-time access to feedback and communication on their work. Grade reports from teachers are delivered to students and families at the midterm and end-of-term, and regular communication is shared throughout the course.
