Upper School Application Process

Steps to apply (grades 9-12)

Poly accepts 25 to 30 students for grade 9. Grades 10-12 are considered “non-entry” and applications to those levels will only be considered if space becomes available (e.g., through attrition).  

All application materials can be found and submitted online. The online application for the 2019-20 school year is now closed.

We encourage all families to submit materials early. To help the Admission Office process applications in a timely fashion, your child’s file must be complete by the listed deadline

Online Application
Complete, submit, and pay the $100 application fee.

All applicants for grades 9-12
Deadline: Jan. 13, 2020

Teacher and Administrator Recommendations
Recommendation Forms are requested online. Upper School Applicants should request recommendations from their current math and English teachers and from one school administrator (principal, program director, counselor, etc). The teacher will receive a secure link to a confidential form.

Deadline: Jan. 31, 2020

Independent School Entrance Exam
Students must take the ISEE, and may take it at any available site. Please designate that Poly is to receive the exam results by entering our code, 052402. Poly encourages students to take the exam only once during the application season. Should we receive more than one score report for an individual, only the first set of results will be considered.

Visit and Interview
Interviews are a required part of the admission process. This visit will include a tour and one-on-one interview and is an opportunity for us to get to know your child on a personal level. Please note: We encourage families to sign up early to ensure they get a date that works with their schedule.

 Applicants for grade 9; Grades 10-12 applicants will be contacted individually to schedule an interview

Poly asks for reports from the previous school year and first semester reports from the year students apply. The transcript request form can be found online and should be signed and given to your child’s current school. Poly requires all transcripts to be sent directly by the school, not by families.

Student Statement
Poly asks applicants to complete a set of short answer essay questions in order to get to know them better. These questions should be completed by the applicant alone so that we can also get a sense of their writing style and authentic opinions.

Parent/Guardian Statement
We look forward to getting to know you and your child during the admission process. We welcome input from parents/guardians through this online form.
