Solo exhibition by David Wiseman '99 opens in New York gallery

Poly alumnus David Wiseman '99 just opened his second solo exhibition, Wilderness and Ornament, at R & Company in New York City. The exhibition, featuring new designs and never-before-seen architectural installations, will be on view through June 25. Wiseman drew much of his inspiration from his gloabl travels, where he began to recognize cross-cultural similarities that formed a "cohesive visual language throughout the world." Featuring chandeliers and walls with decorative motifs, the show fuses ornaments and patterns from different traditions and cultures. Read more about the exhibition and watch a video of Wiseman discussing his instillation.

After attending Poly from kindergarten through 12th grade, Wiseman went on to the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), earning his bachelor's degree in furniture design. In 2005, he moved back to Southern California to set up his own studio in Los Angeles. In addition to small objects and furniture, Wiseman has designed large-scale installations for Christian Dior stores in Shanghai and New York, and the West Hollywood Public Library.
