Exploring Science through Experiments

Instructor: Mary Rose Hawkins
Grade(s): 3-4
Period: F
Duration: 3 weeks/ Session 1 or 2
Cost: $330
This course provides students with hands-on opportunities for students to engage in different types of experiments that span the physical, chemical, and biological sciences as well as engineering. To create an enriching experience exploring the laboratory workbench, classes will include using solar energy to cook, exploring a variety of chemical reactions, and practicing the engineering design process, to name a few. By the end of the session, students will have gained a deeper appreciation for the various branches of science through active participation in their acquisition of scientific knowledge. In addition to experiments, students will also learn to reflect on their science experiences through daily journal entries chronicling their Science investigations. Note: The first and second sessions will be identical in the material they cover.
